Process exists to make the outcome repeatable rather than dependent on who happened to pick up the job. Each repair order gets blueprinted before a tool touches the unit, meaning the damage is fully exposed, every operation is listed in sequence, every part is on the order, and the technician knows the finish state before starting. Blueprinting is the single largest reason a job either runs on schedule or turns into a series of surprises.

Verification is built into the end of the sequence rather than left to the owner at pickup. Anything that was opened gets water tested under spray. Anything driven gets road tested. Anything electrical gets loaded and measured. A final inspection walks the written plan line by line against the unit. If something is not right at delivery, it goes back in and gets corrected, because a repair that fails in your driveway costs everyone more than one caught here.

### What happens during teardown?

Damaged panels, trim, and interior finish come off in a controlled sequence with fasteners bagged and labeled by location. Each layer gets photographed as it is removed. The point is to expose the full extent of damage before anyone commits to a repair method, because a laminated sidewall can hide crushed foam and separated substrate two feet beyond the visible mark. Teardown findings drive the supplement and the final repair plan. Nothing gets ordered from a photograph of an intact panel.

### What does blueprinting mean?

Blueprinting converts teardown findings into a work order that reads as a sequence. Each operation is listed in the order it must occur, with the department, the hours, and the parts required at that step. Structural correction before bodywork. Bodywork before sealer. Sealer before topcoat. Systems verified before the interior goes back. Written this way, a technician never waits on a part that should have been ordered a week earlier, and nothing gets installed that has to come back off.

### How is the work documented?

Photographs at intake, at each teardown layer, at structural setup, before and after filler and primer, after refinish, and at final inspection. Moisture readings recorded by location. Measurement records where a chassis or frame was pulled. Part numbers and supplier invoices attached to the repair order. Paint codes, spray out card results, and the mix formula used. The file is what allows a question six months later to be answered with evidence rather than recollection.

### What is moisture mapping?

A moisture meter is walked across the suspect area in a grid, and each reading is recorded against its position on a diagram of the wall, floor, or roof section. The result is a map showing where the water actually sits, which is frequently well away from the stain. Dry readings define the boundary of what has to be opened. Repeating the map after drying and again after repair confirms the area came back to normal instead of being closed up wet.

### When is structural measurement required?

Any impact that could have moved a frame, a chassis rail, a slide box, or a body mount gets measured against published dimensions before repair and again after. On a motorhome chassis that means a measuring system referencing factory control points. On trailer frames it means checking diagonals, axle alignment, and coupler height. A unit that tracks crooked or eats tires after a repair usually had a frame issue nobody measured. Measurement records go into the file.

### How is paint matched?

The code on the unit is a starting point, not an answer, because a coach that has been outside for eight seasons has drifted from the day it was built. We pull the formula, spray a test card, and compare it to the actual panel under both shop lighting and daylight. If it reads off, the formula gets tinted and a new card sprayed. Matching also means blending into adjacent panels rather than stopping at a seam, so the transition stays invisible.

### What does the refinish sequence look like?

Substrate is cleaned and abraded, then epoxy or etch primer goes on wherever bare material is exposed. Body filler and glazing where contour work is needed, block sanded to shape. High build primer, then guide coat and block again. Sealer for color hold out. Base color in controlled coats, then clear. Each stage has a flash window and each product has a film build spec. Skipping a stage or rushing a flash is where the failures that show up later begin.

### What is cut and polish, and why wait for cure?

Fresh clear coat carries some texture and occasionally a piece of dust. Cutting means wet sanding that surface flat with fine abrasive, and polishing means bringing it back to gloss with compound and a machine. Doing it too early on soft clear leaves marks that reappear as the film shrinks over the following weeks. The clear needs to cure to hardness first, which is why a unit sometimes sits a couple of days between spraying and final finishing.

### What is in a water test?

Any unit where a roof, window, seam, slide seal, or exterior panel was opened goes under a calibrated spray for a sustained period, worked bottom to top so the source of any intrusion is unambiguous. Someone is inside with a light watching the interior side while the exterior is sprayed. Suspect areas get checked with a meter afterward. Visual inspection catches obvious gaps; only a water test catches the seam that leaks under pressure.

### Is the vehicle road tested?

Driveable units get road tested after repair, with the specific items depending on what was done. Structural work means checking tracking, steering pull, and whether the unit holds a lane. Body and mounting work means listening for movement, rattles, and wind noise at highway speed. Electrical work means confirming charging, lighting, and accessory function under load with the engine running. Trailers get towed on a route rather than pulled around the yard.

### What is checked at final inspection?

The written plan is walked line by line against the unit by someone who did not perform the work. Panel gaps and alignment. Finish quality under a light from more than one angle. Every fastener present and torqued. Seals continuous. Doors, hatches, and compartments operating. Slides run through a full cycle. Interior finish and fit. Systems functional. Any item that fails goes back to the responsible department before the owner is told the unit is ready.

### What if something is wrong when I pick it up?

Point it out at delivery and it gets addressed. The walkthrough at pickup exists for exactly that reason, which is why the finished work is reviewed with you instead of keys being handed over at a counter. That is the commitment, and it is what we stand behind.

### What does the shop stand behind?

Our workmanship standard covers the repair we performed and the way it was performed: adhesion of the finish we applied, integrity of the structural work we did, the seals we installed, and the systems we serviced. It does not extend to a separate failure elsewhere on the unit, to damage from a new incident, or to a defect in a part a manufacturer produced. If a repair we performed is not holding, bring it back and it gets looked at.

### Can I see the unit during the repair?

Mid repair walkthroughs are arranged by appointment, and torn down units are genuinely interesting to look at because the construction is visible. Email to set a time; Saturday between 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM is simplest. What is not possible is walking unescorted through an active shop floor with lifts, spray operations, and moving equipment. Someone from the department will take you to the unit and explain what stage it is at.
