Storage in a moving vehicle has one requirement that household storage does not: everything has to stay where it was put during a hard stop. A shelf holding forty pounds of tools becomes a projectile when a driver brakes suddenly, and a drawer that opens on a curve empties itself across a bay. Designing for that condition changes the hardware, the fastening and often the entire layout, and it is what separates a build that lasts from one that rattles apart.

The second requirement is weight discipline. Coaches and work vehicles have cargo capacity that owners frequently exceed without realizing, and a heavy plywood build out consumes a large fraction of it before anything gets loaded. Lighter panel materials, aluminum extrusion framing and thoughtful placement over the axles all buy back capacity. Every storage build starts with a weight budget. We check the vehicle placard, weigh the current condition where practical, and calculate what the planned build will add. Heavy items get placed low and near the axles, because mass high and far from the center of the wheelbase affects handling disproportionately. Bay storage on one side without a corresponding load on the other produces a lean that shows up in tire wear before anyone notices it visually.

Access drives the layout as much as capacity does. A deep bay with a fixed shelf becomes a cave where the back half is never used. A slide out tray on rated hardware turns the same bay into usable space by bringing the contents to the opening. ## Materials and Joinery That Survive Vibration

Household cabinet construction relies on gravity and static loads, and it comes apart in a vehicle. Butt joints held with staples loosen within a season of road vibration. We use mechanical joinery reinforced with fasteners and adhesive, screw into solid material rather than into the edge of a laminated panel, and add corner bracing where a case would otherwise rack. Frames that will carry real weight get built from aluminum extrusion or welded tube instead of panel material.

Panel selection balances weight, moisture tolerance and appearance. Baltic birch plywood is strong and finishes well but adds weight. Aluminum composite panels are light and impervious to moisture but need edge treatment and different fastening. High pressure laminate over a lightweight core suits interior cabinetry where appearance matters. Bay interiors that see water get materials that tolerate it rather than plywood that swells at the first wash.

## Tie Downs, Equipment Mounting and Toy Hauler Work

Tie down points are structural hardware, not accessories. A D ring lag screwed into a plywood floor holds until a motorcycle shifts, and then it leaves. Correct installation means through bolting to a backing plate that spreads load into the frame, or welding a fitting to structure where the floor design allows. Rating matters and gets stated: the point, the backing and the hardware together determine capacity, and the weakest of the three is the actual number.

Equipment mounting on work vehicles follows the same standard. Generators, compressors, welders, battery banks, tool chests and medical equipment all need restraint sized for the mass involved and mounting that reaches structure. Vibration isolation goes in where the equipment needs it, and service access gets preserved so the next technician does not have to dismantle a shelving system to change a filter.

Structural considerations apply: floors get evaluated before heavy loads are placed on them, and anything removed gets checked for whether it was carrying structure before the saw comes out.

That depends on materials and it is something we calculate rather than estimate loosely. Baltic birch construction is strong and heavy. ### Can you install tie down points strong enough for a motorcycle?

Yes, when the floor structure allows proper mounting. Points get through bolted to backing plates that spread the load into frame members, or welded to structure where the design permits. We state the rated capacity of the complete assembly, since a high rated ring bolted to weak backing is only as strong as the backing. Toy hauler floors frequently need reinforcement added during this work.

### Will custom cabinetry match the existing interior?

We work to match reasonably closely using available laminates, veneers and hardware, and the result usually reads as original to anyone not looking for it. Exact matching on an older coach is sometimes impossible because the original material is no longer produced. In those cases we discuss whether to match approximately or to treat the new work as an intentional contrast.
