Delivery and logistics operators run vans and light trucks through dense routes with constant stopping, backing and loading. Nothing in a delivery fleet gets damaged dramatically. It gets damaged constantly. A driver backing to a dock a hundred times a week will eventually meet the dock. Mirror against a gate post, corner against a bollard, rear frame against a loading edge, sliding door track worn out by sheer cycle count. Individually trivial, collectively expensive, and cumulatively the reason a fleet starts looking rough. A tired looking fleet is an accumulation, not an event.

The economics are different from collision work too. A single unit out of service on a route either costs a substitute or costs deliveries, so the repair window matters as much as the repair price. Most of this damage sits in the shortest turnaround tiers, which means a well planned drop can put a vehicle back on the road inside a week. The constraint is almost always a body panel lead time rather than shop capacity.

## Low Speed Damage at High Frequency

Bumper and corner work dominates the list. Bumper repair sits in a defined price band and usually in the three to eight day window. Dent removal, panel replacement and spot refinish cover most of the rest. Because the same damage recurs across a fleet, hour counts stabilize quickly and an operator can budget the reconditioning cycle rather than treating each incident as a novel event. Repeatable damage should produce repeatable numbers.

Deferred damage is the trap. A scraped corner that exposed bare metal starts corroding, and a year later the same repair costs several times what it would have. Sliding side doors on high cycle vans wear at the track and roller rather than in the panel. Replacing a panel on a door whose track has worn produces a door that still does not seal, so we check the mechanism before quoting the visible damage. The same discipline applies to hinge wear on rear barn doors, where alignment problems present as a latch complaint and originate somewhere else entirely.

Interior load space damage matters too. Wall liners, floor surfaces and tie down points take constant impact from freight, and a load space that has lost its liner starts damaging the body structure directly. Panel replacement and custom storage work both apply here, and addressing it during a body visit is far cheaper than a separate trip once the structure itself is involved. Load space damage is easy to defer and expensive to defer for long.

## Electric Delivery Vans and What Changes

Electric delivery platforms are now a routine part of this segment, and the body work is largely conventional. What changes is what sits behind the panels. Battery enclosures, high voltage routing and underbody protection occupy areas that were empty on a conventional van, so any operation involving drilling, welding or heat near those regions requires knowing the layout first rather than discovering it during the work. Layout documentation comes before the grinder does.

The rest is familiar. Corner and bumper damage looks the same, door wear looks the same, and graphics and paint work identically. We treat the high voltage regions as restricted unless documentation confirms otherwise, and we scope repairs around them. Operators running mixed fleets get the same scheduling and documentation approach across both platforms rather than a separate process for each. ### Is it worth repairing minor scrapes across the fleet?

It depends on the scrape. Anything that exposed bare metal starts corroding and gets substantially more expensive the longer it waits, so those are worth catching early. Purely cosmetic marks on a clear coat can generally wait for a planned reconditioning slot. We flag which category each item falls into rather than recommending everything gets done immediately.

### My roll up door will not close properly. Is that a body repair?

Usually yes, and usually the door itself is not the problem. Rear frame deformation from dock contact, track damage or threshold wear all present as a door that will not close cleanly. We check the frame and track before quoting the door, because replacing a door into a distorted opening produces a new door that still does not seal correctly.
