Food truck operators run a commercial kitchen inside a vehicle body. Repairs have to respect both: sheet metal, service windows, wraps and structure on the outside, and equipment mounting, electrical capacity and surface finishes on the inside, all scheduled around a service calendar that does not pause for body work.

A food unit is the most demanding vehicle body in this entire category list. It carries heavy equipment on brackets that vibrate constantly, generates heat and grease that attack finishes from the inside, and presents a branded exterior that customers judge before they read a menu. Then it does that six days a week. Very few vehicle bodies are asked to be a kitchen, a storefront and a highway vehicle at once, and the compromises show up as repair work.

The exterior takes ordinary commercial abuse plus one distinctive item: the service window. A large opening cut into a load bearing side changes how the body flexes, and the frame around it becomes the place where cracking, sealing failure and water intrusion concentrate. Wrap and paint damage around that opening is usually a symptom rather than the problem. Chasing wrap damage without addressing the frame produces a unit that needs the same repair again next season.

Body, welding, paint, graphics and twelve volt electrical work are handled in house. Scheduling gets planned around the operator's service calendar because a unit in a bay is a unit not earning. ## Service Windows, Body Panels and Wrap Damage

Cutting a serving window into a body removes structure from a panel that was carrying load. Everything after that concentrates at the opening corners: flex cracking, sealant failure, wrap lifting and water tracking down inside the wall. Repairs at a service window therefore address the frame and the sealing detail rather than only the visible damage, because a resealed window in a flexing opening leaks again within a season. The rest of the exterior takes standard commercial damage. Corner scrapes from tight event parking, bumper contact, roof strikes from canopies and awnings, and the constant cosmetic wear of a vehicle parked in public every day. Panel replacement, dent work and spot refinish handle most of it, and colors are matched against the aged surface rather than a formula because wraps and paint both drift under sun. Spray outs get compared against the actual panel.

## Equipment Mounting, Power and Interior Surfaces

Kitchen equipment mounted for transport experiences forces no restaurant appliance was designed around. Mounts loosen, brackets fatigue, fasteners elongate their holes and heavy items begin to move within a fraction of an inch, which is enough to start damaging surrounding structure. Rebuilding a mount properly means spreading load into structure rather than into a floor panel or a cabinet side, and that is fabrication work rather than handyman work. The distinction matters here.

Electrical capacity is the other recurring theme. Twelve volt systems, inverters, battery banks and the wiring tying them to equipment all run at or near their limits during service, and heat plus vibration finds every marginal connection. Electrical work bills at the posted mechanical and electrical rate of two hundred sixty dollars per hour, with diagnostic time at two hundred eighty five and a one hour minimum credited against an authorized repair.

Interior surfaces take grease, heat, cleaning chemicals and constant contact. Wall and ceiling panel repair, sealing at every joint and correct finish selection all matter for both durability and inspection readiness. ## Scheduling Around a Service Calendar

Most operators cannot lose a week without losing revenue that does not come back. We plan around the calendar: identify the slower stretch, pre order the parts so they are on the shelf before the unit arrives, and complete the work inside a defined window rather than starting and waiting. That requires the operator to book ahead, and it is by far the cheapest way to run this. Notice costs nothing.

Emergency work is handled too, and honestly dated. If a unit arrives with a structural problem the day before a booked event, we will say whether it can be made serviceable in time rather than agreeing and disappointing. Sometimes a phased approach works: make it safe and functional now, complete the cosmetic and fabrication portions during the next quiet period. That keeps the unit earning while the remaining work waits for a slot that suits everybody.

### Water gets in around my serving window. Why does resealing not hold?

Because the opening is probably flexing. Cutting a large window into a side panel removes structure, and the frame around it becomes where movement concentrates. A sealant joint across a moving gap fails within a season no matter how well it is applied. We inspect and repair the frame first, then rebuild the sealing detail against a structure that is no longer moving.

### Can you re mount kitchen equipment that has worked loose?

Yes, and the rebuild should change why it loosened.
