Assumptions
- Calendar days from authorization, not labor hours. The two rarely track each other.
- A supplement adds the carrier review cycle, which is the single largest variable on most files.
- Special order parts assume a normal supply chain. Discontinued parts assume fabrication or sourcing.
- Carrier response speed is modeled from general handling patterns, not from any named carrier.
- Shop scheduling and bay availability are not modeled here.
- This is a planning window, not a commitment. Every file moves at the speed of its slowest approval.
The labor is rarely the slow part
Owners routinely assume a repair takes as long as the work takes. On a claim file that is almost never true. A job with nineteen days of actual labor can occupy eleven weeks of calendar, and the difference is entirely made of approval cycles, parts lead time and the gaps between someone asking a question and someone answering it.
The largest single variable is the supplement. Teardown on a laminated unit routinely finds damage that no photograph could show, and documenting it opens a review cycle. Work on that area stops until the review closes. A file with one supplement usually adds a week or two. A file with three adds a month.
Parts run a close second. Specialty units go out of production and their component suppliers follow, so a cap, a window frame or a slide rail can simply be unavailable. At that point the path forward is fabrication, which has its own hour count on top of the weeks already spent establishing that the part was gone.
What an owner can actually control is the front of the file. Damage documented thoroughly at intake, with photographs taken before anything is disturbed, produces fewer surprises and fewer cycles later. That is the one lever that reliably shortens a claim, and it costs nothing but attention.

A file moves faster when it starts documented
Bring the unit in while the damage is still open. The shop is about 20 miles from Eastvale, 25 to 35 minutes by way of SR-71 south to SR-91 west, then Weir Canyon Road, or Green River Road when the 91 is heavy.
