How Fabrication Work Gets Scoped

Nothing gets cut until the load path is understood. A rack that carries two hundred pounds of cargo at highway speed generates far more than two hundred pounds of force at its mounting points once road inputs and braking are included. We identify what structure exists behind the skin, whether it can accept the load, and what reinforcement is required to spread that load into the frame instead of concentrating it into a sidewall that was never intended to carry anything.

Material selection follows the application rather than habit. Mild steel is strong, easy to weld and repair, and heavier. Aluminum saves meaningful weight on a vehicle already near its cargo rating but requires different joint design because it fatigues differently and does not tolerate the same weld geometry. Stainless resists corrosion in wash down environments. We state which material a job calls for and why, then finish it so it does not corrode where the two metals meet.

Correction, Protection and Honest Expectations

Detailing on a recreational vehicle is a different discipline than detailing a car. The surfaces are enormous, they include gelcoat, painted fiberglass, painted steel, bare and clear coated aluminum, decal vinyl and rubber roofing, and each of those responds differently to compound and to chemistry. A single process applied to the whole coach damages something. Panel by panel evaluation, then a process matched to each surface, is the only approach that produces a consistent result.

Expectations get set before work begins. Oxidation that has not reached through the gelcoat corrects beautifully. Chalking that has gone deeper leaves a surface that improves substantially without returning to original gloss. Clear coat that has begun to peel cannot be polished back and needs refinishing instead. We look at each area, say plainly which category it falls into, and price the work against what is actually achievable rather than against a photograph of a different coach.

01Do you build custom parts or only install purchased ones?
Both. Many jobs start as a purchased rack or bumper that does not fit the vehicle, and the fabrication work is adapting the mounting to real structure. Others are built from scratch because nothing suitable exists for that chassis. We measure the vehicle, draw the part, confirm the load path, then cut and weld. Purchased components get inspected before installation, since some are not adequate for the loads described.
02Can detailing fix oxidation on an older fiberglass coach?
Usually a great deal of it. Oxidation is a degraded surface layer, and multi stage machine correction removes it mechanically to reveal sound material underneath. How far the result goes depends on how deep the degradation reached. Coaches that still have gelcoat thickness respond very well. Surfaces where clear coat has started to peel need refinishing, which is paint work rather than correction.
03How is an in shop evaluation different from a walkthrough at a dealer?
An evaluation here happens with the vehicle on a lift and panels opened. Roof seams get inspected from the roof, the underbelly gets examined from below, moisture readings are taken through the sidewalls, systems get operated and measured, and everything is photographed. The result is a written document with readings and photographs, not a checklist of ticked boxes. It is performed in shop and carries a posted charge.
04Do you work on commercial and municipal vehicles for fabrication?
Yes. Box trucks, utility trucks, food trucks, mobile workshops, mobile medical clinics, refuse trucks and street sweepers all come through for racks, shelving, equipment mounting, step and platform work, and structural repair to bodies and frames. Fleet work typically includes a written condition report so a maintenance manager can plan the same repair across similar units.
05Where is the work performed and how far is it from Eastvale?
All fabrication, finish and evaluation work happens inside the 35,000 square foot facility at 23281 La Palma Ave in Yorba Linda, roughly twenty miles from Eastvale by way of SR-71 south to SR-91 west.
