Aluminum behaves differently from steel under repair. It work hardens faster, it does not return to shape the same way, and heat affects its properties in ways that cannot be reversed by cooling it down. High voltage isolation and the structural pack

Because the pack is structural, damage to the underbody is a structural question as well as an electrical one. Before any body work near the pack, the high voltage system is shut down according to the platform procedure, disabled and verified. Nothing involving heat, grinding, drilling or welding happens near pack, cable or component locations until that verification is complete and recorded. Work near those areas resumes only under the sequence the platform procedure defines, and the technician performing the verification is recorded on the repair order.

Underbody impact damage, whether from an off road strike or a road hazard, gets documented in detail. Damage to pack enclosure surfaces, mounting points and the surrounding structure is photographed and measured.
